| The Pass Plus scheme
is an intensive driving course for newly qualified
drivers who wish to reduce the chances of being involved in a vehicle
crash and want to save money on their motor insurance.
Just because you have passed the practical driving test, doesn't mean
you are a competent driver.
In co-operation with the Driving Standards Agency, insurance
companies & driving schools have produced the Scheme.
As a new driver, you are more likely to be involved in a vehicle
crash within the first year of passing your test, than at any other
time.
People aged between 17 and 25 have the highest risk of being involved
in an accident than someone aged 40. Drivers under 21 are involved in
15% of road accident deaths - that's 1 in 7 people. New drivers make up
10% of drivers but are involved in 29% of accidents

Pass Plus gives you valuable extra
experience and you will develop a positive attitude towards your driving
that would otherwise take you longer acquire. You will be a better and
safer driver
Motor insurers that participate in the scheme, will give you a one
step progression on their no-claims discount table when you insure your
own car. What this means, is you will get an extra years bonus after you
have completed the scheme. This discount applies whether you have
comprehensive, third party, or third part fire and theft policies.
You can defer the scheme for two years if you currently drive someone
else's car, under their policy. If you buy a car of your own with in the
next two years, and not had a claim on someone else's policy, then your
insurance premium will be reduced by one year.
Firstly you will have to find a driving
school that offers the Pass Plus scheme - not all do.
We at Taurus
school of motoring are registered with the DSA to provide
Pass Plus driving courses.
The Pass Plus consists of a minimum of six
hours intensive driving. this can be taken in three two hour periods,
two three hour periods or one 6 hour period, with a break
At the end of your course, you and your
tutor will fill out a form for the DSA to say you have satisfied your
tutor that you meet the Pass Plus requirements. There are no tests
to take.
Our school will then send the form to the DSA, who in turn will send
you a diploma. this will then be needed by your insurance company as
proof.
